Beauty and the Beast 2026: Momentum is building!

Thanks to the support of Ulumbarra Foundation donors, momentum is building for the Nexus Bendigo Youth Theatre’s  production of Beauty and the Beast.

Since rehearsals began in early March, 70 young people from Years 7–13 have come together to create something truly special. In a demonstration of Nexus’s commitment to inclusion, every student who auditioned was offered a place—giving them all an opportunity to participate, belong, and grow.

Producer and Co-Director Julie Lovell said the results are already remarkable.

“The standard continues to grow each week. Harmonies are already blending beautifully, choreography is full of energy and creativity, and our cast are embracing their characters with confidence and flair,” said Julie.

Behind the scenes, Nexus’s Student Leadership Crew has created a supportive environment for more than 35 new members—ensuring every participant feels safe, included, and valued.

Scholarships are playing a critical role, opening the door for young people who might otherwise miss out. Julie thanked the Ulumbarra Foundation for its support; ensuring financial circumstances are not a barrier to participation.

“The impact of this support cannot be overstated—Nexus continues to be a vital, inclusive space where young people find community, confidence, and creative expression,” she added.

The production performs at The Capital from 24th July to 1st August 2026. More information and tickets are available here.
