The Bendigo Art Gallery is a gem. My wife and I travelled all the way from the Central Coast of NSW to Bendigo for a curated exhibition of French masterpieces a few years ago, but were enthralled by the Goldfields Collection, and ‘discovered’ other wonderful works by Samuel Gill (the Digger’s Wedding in Melbourne) and Louis Buvelot. Wonderful!
Bendigo lies 153klm north of Melbourne. Although Melbourne has the top number of entertainment centres, we mustn’t forget that Bendigo has its own quality of entertainers and attraction centres. The younger of the population may tolerate travelling down to the big city but we, of a more mature age, appreciate the quality of selection in our own district. We do not go short ofa grand smorgasbord of arts, entertainment and cultures.
What inspires you? Why do you care?
We believe the best way to celebrate the power of local performing arts is by sharing the voices of those who make it possible—donors, artists, and audience members like you! Every experience is unique, and together, your stories paint a rich portrait of why our local performing arts matter.
Tell us why you care about Greater Bendigo's local performing arts community. What role does it play in your life? Maybe a memorable performance or experience impacted you deeply? In its 10th anniversary year, what impact has the Ulumbarra Theatre made to your life and the regional community? Be creative, tell us your story and share a photo if you can!
Your story might encourage others to support and celebrate the performing arts alongside you.
